Valentine color

Images found HERE and HERE

The day of love doesn't always have to be about pink and red. How about bringing some turquoise into the mix?

One of my favorite eats in Brooklyn

Illustration by Danielle Malmgren, Photos from Frankies

Ever since I moved to Brooklyn three years ago, Frankies has been one of my favorite restaurants in Carroll Gardens.  I've taken first dates, out of town parents and old friends. No one has ever left disappointed. Now, with moving on the horizon, I am shedding a few tears to be leaving my favorite spot and I confess I have gone about five times in the last few weeks to get my fix.  With some of the best Italian food, Frankies also offers delicious cocktails and great wine.   I would start by ordering several of the crostinis (my fav is the Cremini Mushroom & Truffle Oil)and the Braised Octopus with Dandelion Greens & Castelvetrano Vinaigrette. My favorite entrees are  House-made Cavatelli with Faiccos Hot Sausage & Browned Sage Butter and Meatballs with Pine Nuts & Raisins (shown below).  Frankies also has a little shop around the corner with meats, cheeses and their fantastic meatballs to go.  Though it may be hard to say goodbye...I know I can't stay away for too long.

New Business cards

I am too excited for words about my brand spankin' new business cards! I am in love with the blind stamp tufting in the background.  My partner in crime Kenny, at Giant Squid Press, did an amazing job!  Why haven't you gotten Letterpress cards yet??? If you head on over Giant Squid Press and tell him you saw my sweet cards, he will give you 10% off!!!. Oh and wouldn't that make a perfect Valentine's Day  gift, better then flowers or chocolate in my humble opinion.

My birthday is coming up and I always look for an excuse to throw a PARTY! Although, this year might be a little more mellow then usual, because I am packing for a big move.  I am so excited to be getting a two bedroom with my boyfriend Kenny! We we will have our own big office, which will be amazing since our dining room table is not ideal for running two businesses. I look forward to lots and lots of big parties in our new home!

The film Chocolat is a delightful feast for the senses.  Not only are the colors in this movie phenomenal,  but the gorgeous chocolate desserts will have your mouth watering in seconds. It really is the ultimate food and fashion film!  The story takes place in a tiny French village, where Vivienne, an expert Chocolatier,  tries to warm the hearts and souls of the town's people with chocolate concoctions.  Her colorful wardrobe lights up the screen and shows a few unexpected color pairings that are so inspiring.  So grab a hot spicy Mexican Chocolate and enjoy!

It feels like Spring here in Brooklyn!  The sun is shining and the sidewalk cafes are hoppin'.  Burn your coat and throw on some bright juicy colors!  I love this tangerine and turquoise palette, it just screams put on a pretty dress, grab a cocktail and frolic in the sunshine.
